Actions in the event of an Alarm

EVACUATION TONE:   WHOOP, WHOOP, WHOOP (X3)

LOCKDOWN TONE: SIREN (WHIRLING CONTINUOUS)

LOCKDOWN ACTIVE SHOOTER: NATIONAL ANTHEM

In the event of alarm activation or emergency incident, all staff members are required to ensure their own safety and the safety of others. Staff members are required to report any emergency to the nominated area warden and operate any alarms if installed. Staff are also required to follow directions by the wardens and, if required, to evacuate in a safe and coordinated manner to the nominated Evacuation Assembly Area.

All staff should be aware of the location of various emergency exit points within their department/area and nominated Evacuation Assembly Areas.

 Staff actions during an emergency should include, but are not restricted to :

  • When directed, reporting to the designated emergency muster point within their department or external Evacuation Assembly Area Assisting any persons in immediate danger (only is safe to do so)
  • Operating any installed fire equipment if trained in the safe use of the equipment Activating any internal alarms as required
  • Evacuating when requested in a safe and coordinated manner
  • Acting as directed by the nominated warden and emergency services
  • Remaining at the assembly area, ensuring that they have been accounted for and their names have been marked off by their warden
